Cashback at Slotoro: judging a rebate after the fact
Cashback is the promotion that gives nothing up front and returns part of what you lost afterwards. It looks like the friendliest bonus type, and often it is — provided you know what it is calculated on, when it is credited, and what strings are attached to the money that comes back. Which cashback offer Slotoro is running at any moment, at what rate and how often, is not something we can promise: check the current offer and its rules in your account and in the promotion terms.
See the Slotoro promotions pageNet loss or total stakes — the first question
Cashback can be calculated on two different bases. The common one is net loss: what you deposited and lost over the period, minus your winnings. Finish the period ahead and there is nothing to refund, which is exactly how it should work. The rarer one is a turnover rebate, which returns a small slice of total stakes regardless of results. The two behave completely differently, so the base of the calculation is the first thing to find in the terms.
When and how it arrives
- Period: daily, weekly or monthly settlement, as stated in the terms.
- Crediting: automatic, or a manual claim in the promotions area — manual claims often expire.
- Form: real money (withdrawable at once) or bonus money (tied to wagering). This decides what it is really worth.
- Cap: most cashback has a ceiling per period.
A worked illustration
Illustration, not Slotoro's terms: in one week you deposit 40,000 HUF and win back 25,000 HUF, so your net loss is 15,000 HUF. A 10% net-loss cashback would return 1,500 HUF. If that arrives as bonus money with 5x wagering, you still need to stake 7,500 HUF with it before withdrawing. As real money, the same 1,500 HUF is simply yours. The same "10%" means very different things depending on its form.
Cashback and game choice
This site is built around how volatility shapes the experience, and it matters here too. An extreme-volatility Nolimit City title such as Mental 2 or Fire in the Hole 3 tends to produce bigger losing weeks and rarer big wins, so a net-loss rebate genuinely softens the bad weeks. On a medium-volatility slot like Fire Joker 100 the swings are smaller, and so is the typical rebate. Note that terms can exclude certain games or categories from the calculation.
What never to do because of cashback
Do not raise your stakes to "increase the refund". The maths is simple: if cashback returns a fraction of losses, most of any extra loss stays with you. Treat it as a mild cushion on your entertainment budget, never as a strategy. If you notice you keep playing because of the rebate, set a limit or read our responsible gambling page; players in Hungary can call the free SZTFH player-protection line on +36 80 205 352, and anyone can use Gambling Therapy online.
