Bonus terms: ten questions to answer before accepting anything
A bonus is worth whatever its small print says, not the number on the banner. The same offer can be a useful extra or a trap full of restrictions, depending on the terms. - How much does each game contribute? Slots usually count in full; table and live games partly or not at all.
- Are any games excluded? Some titles, often high-RTP games or bonus-buy slots, may be.
- What is the maximum stake per spin? One breach can cost the bonus.
- How long do you have? After the deadline, the bonus and its winnings may be forfeited.
- Is there a cap on withdrawable winnings? Especially common with no-deposit offers and free spins.
- Which payment methods exclude the bonus? Some e-wallet or prepaid deposits may not qualify.
- In what order is money used? Real balance first, or bonus first? This decides when you can walk away.
- What happens if you withdraw mid-wagering? Often the bonus is cancelled.
- Can the bonus be declined or removed? If so, how, and with what consequence?
Contribution and volatility together
The two most important lines are game contribution and the max-bet rule, and both are best read alongside the volatility of the game you plan to play. On a fully contributing medium-volatility slot such as Fire Joker 100, wagering progresses more evenly. On an extreme-volatility Nolimit City title like Fire in the Hole 3, expect long quiet stretches under the max-bet cap, and bonus buys are typically not allowed while a bonus is active.
