Bet types: what each one asks of you, and what it gives back
A bookmaker's menu looks endless at first glance, yet almost every market comes down to a handful of basic types. Understand those and you can find your way around any betting interface. The examples below are illustrations — not Slotoro prices — and we cannot confirm whether your Slotoro account offers sports betting at all. Single
One selection on one event. It is the most transparent format: the return is stake times odds, and the bookmaker's margin applies only once. Example: a 20-unit stake at 1.75 returns 35 units if it wins. For beginners the single is the best school, because the consequence of every decision is visible on its own.
Accumulator
Several selections on one slip; all must win and the odds multiply. Three selections at 1.80 combine to 5.83 — tempting, but the margin is added on every leg. If each leg carries a margin of around 5%, a three-leg accumulator can easily carry a combined disadvantage well above 10%. The more legs you add, the worse the deal becomes.
System bets
A system places several accumulators at once from the same selections (for example every treble from four events). It survives one or two misses, but the stake multiplies with the number of combinations. Before placing one, count how many slips it really is and what the total stake comes to.
Handicap and Asian handicap
A handicap levels the odds: the favourite has to overcome a deficit. Asian handicaps use quarter- and half-goal lines, so certain results return the stake or settle half-won. That removes the draw from the slip, but the settlement rules need to be understood exactly before you bet.
Over/under
Instead of picking a winner you bet on whether total goals or points land above or below a line. It is common in basketball and tennis (total games) too. You do not have to choose a side — but one late goal or overtime can decide everything.
In-play and cash out
During a match odds move constantly. Cash out lets you settle a slip before the end, but the offered amount also contains the bookmaker's margin. In-play is the fastest-moving bet type, which makes it the one where impulsive decisions cost the most.
